Quick answers
How does equal time work?
Fair share = players on court × game minutes ÷ kids. The game is split into equal windows and the bench slides along the roster, so every child sits the same number of windows. The live rebalancer tracks real seconds and evens things out when whistles come late.
What if the whistle is late?
A planned change at 3:45 means “the sub window opens at 3:45”. Tap Done at the real whistle. The app logs the actual time and rebalances the next changes. Most games finish with everyone within about 30 seconds.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Everything lives on your phone, including a live game. If the app closes mid-game, the clock catches up when you reopen it.
Phone flat at the game?
Print the rotation plan from the plan screen, or send it to the assistant coach before tip-off.
Why no scores or player ratings?
Kids play for fun and friends. Rankings and rewards for the few push others out. We celebrate team records, effort and every child’s moments instead.
Do kids or parents need an account?
No. Kids never need an account, and the app works fully without one. Coaches can sign in only to keep Plus on every phone or use a club code.
Is this an official program?
Halftime Oranges is a School of Play app that fits alongside Aussie Hoops, MiniRoos, Auskick, NetSetGO and Cricket Blast. Rules vary by association, so check yours and tweak the format.
