CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT

Every child safe. Every child belongs.

Last updated 4 November 2026

The School of Play is committed to the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children. We have zero tolerance for child abuse. This statement explains how that commitment shapes Halftime Oranges.

  1. 1Our commitment

We put children’s safety and wellbeing first in every decision we make about the app. We are guided by the Victorian Child Safe Standards and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

We respect the rights of every child, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disability, and children of every gender and sexuality, to feel safe and to belong in sport.

  2. 2Safe by design

    • Only adults use the app. Children never have accounts.
    • We keep the bare minimum about a child: a first name or nickname, a last initial and an age group.
    • There is no way for an adult to message a child in the app.
    • There are no photos of children in the app.
    • Children’s information stays on the coach’s phone and can be exported or deleted at any time.
    • Equal game time and fair teams are built in, so no child is left out.
  3. 3Safe sport

Every session is play-based and designed for the age group. Each sport’s safety guidance, such as heat, concussion and protective gear, is built into sessions and game day. Sideline tips help families keep game day positive.

  4. 4Raising a concern

If a child is in immediate danger, call 000.

If you have a concern about a child’s safety in your club or sport, tell your club’s child safety or member protection officer, and your state sporting association.

If your concern relates to Halftime Oranges or The School of Play, email hello@halftimeoranges.com.au. We take every report seriously, respond promptly and report to authorities where required.

For advice or to report abuse in Victoria, contact the Child Protection Crisis Line on 13 12 78. Children and young people can call Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800, any time.

  5. 5Keeping this up to date

We review this statement and the app’s child safety features at least once a year, and whenever we add a feature that could affect children.
